My name is Abdi, but my friends and family know me as Lalee. I was born in Somalia. I enjoy meeting people and if you are reading this, I would love to hear from you. I am a person who sees obstacles as an opportunity to grow. I love furthering my education. Although I read my first book in the county jail, since my incarceration I earned my Associate's degree, BA, and I am currently working on my master's in Adult and Higher Education. I have daily yoga/meditation practice and I earned my 200-hour yoga teacher training certification. Currently, I teach yoga/meditation to the men here and I also offer free weekly zoom classes to the public through my university. I love reading, writing, and watching movies, my newest hobby is painting. I love nature and hope to travel one day. Presently I am unsentenced. I completed 12 years prison sentence and ten-day prior to my scheduled release date the state charged me with alleged involvement in a shooting that took place prior to incarceration. Nonetheless, I am continuing to grow intellectually and spiritually; while helping others. Thank you for reading my profile and hope to hear from you.
